SECURITY NOTICE
(Assault And Sexual Abuse Incident

A female undergraduate student was physically assaulted and sexually abused on Saturday evening, June 1, 2013 at about 8:20 pm, while walking on Murlin Drive near the Whipple Park apartments. Prior to the incident she returned to the south area of campus on a shuttle bus, getting off at the Kendrick Road stop near University Park Apartments.
As she walked southbound on Murlin Drive near the bend about halfway between East River Road and the Whipple Park complex she observed the suspect's car, a black sedan, parked alongside the road. Soon after she passed the vehicle, the suspect walked up to her from behind and pulled on her clothing. They struggled and fell to the ground. The suspect held onto her forcefully and grabbed at her in an inappropriate manner. The suspect did not display a weapon. A passing motorist stopped and the student alerted the driver to call the police. The suspect got in his car and sped away, initially towards the Whipple Park apartments then back towards East River Road.
Both Brighton Police and University Security were alerted and responded immediately. A thorough check of the surrounding areas was conducted. The suspect was not located. The student was taken to the hospital as a precaution for examination of injuries and then released.
